Job Summary
Own end-to-end procurement of electronic components for product development and production. You will source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage suppliers for PCBs, ICs, sensors, connectors, power components, and all raw materials required for electronics manufacturing. This role demands strong component knowledge, disciplined execution, and the ability to maintain cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
1. Component Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify and onboard reliable suppliers for electronic components.
- Evaluate vendors based on pricing, lead time, quality, and MOQ.
- Negotiate rates, payment terms, and annual contracts.
- Build and maintain vendor database with critical parameters.
2. Procurement Execution
- Raise purchase requests and orders based on BOM and production forecasts.
- Ensure timely material availability for R&D and production.
- Track shipments, follow up on delays, and ensure on-time delivery.
- Manage imports (if applicable): coordination with freight forwarders, customs paperwork.
3. BOM & Documentation
- Work closely with R&D to understand BOM structure and alternates.
- Maintain accurate procurement data: pricing, lead times, part revisions.
- Validate component availability in the market and update engineering teams.Suggest second-source or alternate components when primary items have long lead times.
4. Inventory, Planning & Cost Control
- Plan component purchases based on consumption, buffer, and forecast.
- Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or excess.
- Track price trends for key components (ICs, MCUs, passives, PCBs).
- Support cost reduction through alternate sourcing and negotiation.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with production, QC, and R&D to resolve component issues.
- Support QC with vendor quality feedback and corrective actions.
- Assist finance with GRN, PO closure, invoice verification, and reconciliations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma / BE in Electronics, Electrical, E&C, or related field.
- 1–5 years experience in sourcing or procurement of electronic components.
- Strong understanding of ICs, MCUs, passives, sensors, connectors, PCBs.
- Ability to read BOMs, part numbers, datasheets, alternates.
- Good negotiation and vendor communication skills.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, Excel, and basic procurement processes.
- Discipline in documentation and timely follow-up.
Good to Have
- Experience in EMS / OEM / electronics manufacturing company.
- Understanding of supply chain constraints and global component shortages.
- Basic knowledge of imports, logistics, and HS codes.
- Existing vendor network for components.
