Reference design provides a 1.3kW half-bridge LLC resonant converter for data-centre, battery backup and industrial power applications.

ROHM Semiconductor has developed a 1.3 kW half-bridge LLC resonant converter evaluation board for high-power applications such as data-centre server power supplies, battery backup units and industrial equipment. Operating from a 390 V DC input, the design delivers a regulated 12 V DC output with a maximum current of 108 A. It is intended to help engineers evaluate high-current power conversion while reducing development effort.
Power MOSFETs were selected for the primary side, while synchronous-rectification MOSFETs were selected for the secondary side. The power converter achieves a peak efficiency of 97 per cent, making it suitable for applications that require efficient power conversion and high power density. The board has rated output power of 1 kW and can deliver up to 1.3 kW under specified operating conditions.
The evaluation board uses a half-bridge LLC Configuration, which is designed for high-efficiency power conversion. It also includes a high-current secondary-side rectification section, which supports a maximum output current of 108 A.
The reference design provides an overview of the converter’s electrical behavior power-conversion capabilities. The design includes the necessary documentation to understand the circuit and board implementation. Further analysis can be carried out using the schematic diagram, bill of material and PCB layout.
The evaluation board is suitable for power architectures that require high efficiency, high current and low output voltage. The Evaluation Board consists of LLC resonant topology, synchronous rectifier, and high-efficiency power devices providing a practical basis for developing power supplies for servers, battery backup systems and industrial applications.
