Reference design provides a 12 V output for CCTV and strip-lighting applications using a flyback topology with secondary-side regulation.

Vistar Technovation has developed a 60 W CCTV switched-mode power supply reference design for applications requiring a regulated low-voltage DC output. The design accepts an input voltage ranging from 110 V AC to 300 V AC and provides a 12 V DC output with a maximum output current of 5 A. It uses a flyback topology with secondary-side regulation and is designed for operation under Indian field conditions.
The reference design operates from a 50 Hz input frequency with a ±10 per cent tolerance and has a maximum no-load power consumption of 100 mW. Although the design is named as a 60 W CCTV power supply, its technical specifications list a maximum output power of 75 W at the stated 12 V and 5 A output. The design achieves an average efficiency of 84 to 86 per cent and has a maximum output ripple of 100 mV.
The power supply uses a 100 V Schottky diode at the output. According to Vistar Technovation, this helps maintain a cost-effective implementation. The secondary-side regulation arrangement provides control of the output, while the design supports both constant-voltage and constant-current operating modes.
Protection features include overtemperature, overcurrent and short-circuit protection. These functions are incorporated to help protect the power supply under abnormal operating conditions. The combination of the flyback topology, secondary-side regulation and protection features provides a compact power-conversion platform for the intended applications.
Vistar Technovation lists CCTV and strip-lighting among the applications for the reference design. The company describes it as a cost-effective and reliable design suited to Indian operating conditions. Engineers can use the design as a basis for developing 12 V power supplies where a wide AC input range, regulated output and integrated protection features are required.
