Vistar Technovation has developed a 240 W CCTV switched-mode power supply reference design for applications requiring a high-current 12 V supply. The design accepts an input voltage ranging from 150 V AC to 300 V AC and provides a regulated 12 V DC output at up to 20 A. It is designed for Indian operating conditions and incorporates active air cooling using a DC fan.
The power supply uses a combination of forward and flyback topology with secondary-side regulation. A switching frequency of 200 kHz allows the design to use smaller magnetic components, helping keep the power supply compact. A 100 V Schottky diode is used on the output side as part of the design, while the overall implementation is intended to provide a cost-effective and reliable power solution.
The reference design operates at an input frequency of 50 Hz with a ±10% tolerance and has a maximum no-load power consumption of 250 mW. The output can deliver up to 20 A at 12 V DC, while the page specifies a maximum output power of 275 W. The design achieves an average efficiency of 86% to 88% and has a maximum output ripple of 500 mV.
Protection features include overtemperature protection, overcurrent protection and short-circuit protection. The design also supports constant-voltage and constant-current operating modes. These features are intended to improve the reliability of the power supply under different operating and fault conditions.
The reference design is intended for applications including CCTV systems, LED display boards and industrial equipment.
