Vistar Technovation has developed a 120 W Power over Ethernet (PoE) adapter reference design for applications requiring a regulated high-voltage DC output. The design accepts an input voltage ranging from 110 V AC to 300 V AC and provides a 52 V DC output at up to 2.3 A. It uses a flyback topology with secondary-side regulation and is designed for PoE systems.

The reference design operates from a 50 Hz input frequency with a ±10 per cent tolerance and has a maximum no-load power consumption of 100 mW. Its listed maximum output power is 130 W, with an average efficiency ranging from 86 to 89 per cent. The design has a maximum output ripple of 300 mV, providing a regulated output for connected PoE equipment.

The power supply uses a switching frequency of 100 kHz, which enables a compact implementation. A 600 V ultra-fast diode is used in the design to support efficiency and reliability. The secondary-side regulation approach helps maintain control of the output while allowing the power supply to operate across its specified input range.

Protection features include overtemperature protection, overcurrent protection and short-circuit protection. The reference design also supports constant-power and constant-current modes. These features are intended to improve the reliability of the adapter under different operating and fault conditions.

Vistar Technovation describes the design as a cost-competitive solution optimised for Indian field conditions and market requirements. With its wide AC input range, 52 V output, compact switching architecture and integrated protection features, the reference design is intended for PoE systems requiring reliable power conversion.
