Renesas AnalogPAK Expands to Include First Low-Power Device with 14-Bit SAR ADC

Renesas Electronics Corporation, Japan has introduced a low-power device that includes the first programmable 14-bit SAR ADC (successive approximation register analog-digital converter). Part of the company’s GreenPAK family of programmable mixed-signal matrix products, these new devices improve component needs by integrating multiple system functions in compact, energy-efficient packages, benefiting applications from consumer electronics to automotive.

With applications spanning consumer electronics, industrial sensors, automotive systems, and more, the new SLG47011 device provides significant versatility. Equipped with a 14-bit SAR ADC and flexible power-saving modes, it offers high precision with minimal power consumption, meeting the needs of designers aiming to balance performance and efficiency in constrained spaces. “We have shipped billions of GreenPAK and AnalogPAK devices to thousands of customers around the world,” said Davin Lee, senior vice president and general manager of analog and connectivity, Renesas. These latest offerings reflect a response to rising demands for higher-resolution analog capabilities across various industries.

The new device can function independently as an analog front-end (AFE) or offload an MCU, with a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) enabling multi-channel operations and customizable sleep modes to optimise power usage down to the µA level. Designed to simplify prototyping, it works seamlessly with the ‘Go Configure Software Hub’ and ‘GreenPAK development kit’, allowing developers to quickly create tailored circuits.

The company also introduces the cost-effective SLG47001 and SLG47003 devices for precise measurement applications. With ultra-low offset op-amps, comparators, and a range of configurable logic blocks, these ICs target applications such as gas sensors, power metres, and wearable tech. For automotive systems, the SLG47004-A device meets Grade 1 automotive standards, enhancing infotainment and chassis applications with robust reliability.

These new devices, which reduce component count, board space, and BOM costs, will be available now as they offer a variety of configurations to serve a broad array of industry needs.
