Emerson has launched the world’s first PEX liners for its Rosemount 8750W Magnetic Flow Meter, Rosemount 8705 Flanged Magnetic Flow Meter, and Rosemount MS Magnetic Flow Meter. The new liner is designed to improve durability in water, wastewater, slurry, and other abrasive applications.
Widely used liners have limited resistance to chemical attack and abrasive environments, which can lead to increased maintenance and environmental problems. Also, liner flaring can occur during installation or reinstallation, which increases the number of liner types required and the total cost. Different applications often require different liner materials, which can lead to higher inventory requirements and increased total operating costs.
The company said the liner option is intended to address durability and PFAS-related concerns without requiring changes to existing measurement technology. The design is also aimed at reducing issues associated with liner wear while providing an alternative to conventional liner materials. It also helps in reducing the need for multiple liner types across different industrial applications.
The liners without PFAS are designed to support compliance with evolving environmental and regulatory requirements while maintaining liner performance. Their crosslinked molecular structure gives them high abrasion resistance, which makes them useful even in wastewater. The PEX liners are currently available for line sizes up to eight inches and larger line sizes are currently under development.
