Chip Helps Build Motor Control Circuits

A chip helps designers control motors used in drones, power tools, robots, and other devices with compact circuits.

Geehy has launched the GHD3450, a 200V three-phase dual N-channel motor gate driver IC designed for engineers developing compact motor control systems. The device integrates a bootstrap diode and is available in TSSOP20 and QFN24 packages, helping reduce external components and simplify circuit design.

The GHD3450 supports a 5.5V–20V supply range, 3.3V and 5V logic input compatibility, and a +200V floating offset voltage. It is designed for DC brushless and brushed motor applications where reliable switching and control are required.

Engineers working on products such as power tools, garden equipment, drones, electronic speed controllers (ESCs), and cleaning robots can use this gate driver to build three-phase motor drive systems. The IC helps control external power devices that drive motors, enabling smoother switching, stable operation, and compact motor control solutions.

The device provides a peak source current of 2.0A at 15V with a 20ns fall time under a 3.3nF load. It also delivers a peak sink current of 2.7A at 15V with a 35ns rise time under a 3.3nF load. These switching capabilities help reduce losses in power devices and improve motor drive efficiency.

The GHD3450 includes protection features to support reliable operation in motor systems. It provides VCC and VBS undervoltage lockout, shoot-through prevention, and a built-in minimum dead time of 220ns to protect power switching devices. Integrated input and output pull-down resistors help maintain stable gate signals and prevent unwanted switching.

The IC also features matched propagation delays between high-side and low-side channels to reduce the risk of bridge shoot-through. In-phase input and output signals help maintain PWM accuracy for better motor control, while high dv/dt noise immunity improves performance in electrically noisy environments.

With its voltage handling capability, switching performance, and protection features, the GHD3450 can be used by product designers developing compact motor-based systems for consumer, industrial, and robotic applications.
