Capacitors help engineers design power supplies for AI servers, switch-mode supplies, uninterruptible power supplies, and solar inverters.

TDK Corporation has expanded its B43645, B43657, B43658, B43659, B43660, and B43661 series of snap-in aluminium electrolytic capacitors with rated DC voltages up to 500 V for artificial intelligence (AI) server power supply units (PSUs) and high-performance switch-mode power supplies (SMPS).
Power supply designers, hardware engineers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can use these capacitors in the DC-link and energy-storage sections of high-power supply systems. The compact form factor allows them to design smaller power supplies, fit more capacitance into limited space, and support higher power density without changing to a larger capacitor footprint.
The capacitors have diameters of 22 mm to 35 mm and lengths of 25 mm to 100 mm. Their size makes them suitable for applications where space is limited, including AI data centre power supplies that need to operate continuously under high loads.
The extended-voltage series offers capacitance values from 80 µF to 2060 µF, ripple currents of up to 5.39 A, and a service life of up to 5,000 hours at +105°C. Their compact capacitance-voltage (CV) design helps reduce the space required for the capacitor bank.
The capacitors use an aluminium can with a polyethene terephthalate (PET) sleeve, snap-in pins, and an integrated pressure relief vent. They are RoHS-compliant and have been vibration-tested according to IEC 60068-2-6. Two-terminal versions are available as standard, while three-terminal versions support correct insertion.
The series can be used in AI server PSUs, SMPS, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and solar inverters. Engineers can select suitable capacitance and voltage ratings for their power supply designs and use TDK’s web-based AlCap Tool to calculate expected capacitor lifetime under application-specific operating conditions.
