Compact DC/DC Modules Deliver Regulated Power

Wide-input power modules combine regulated outputs, high efficiency, short-circuit protection, and compact SIP packaging for embedded and industrial electronics.

Compact DC/DC Modules Deliver Regulated Power

The K78xx-500R3 Series DC/DC power modules from Rajguru Electronics (I) PVT. LTD. provide non-isolated, regulated power conversion for electronic systems requiring compact and efficient voltage regulation. Available in positive and negative output versions, the modules support output currents of up to 500 mA and achieve typical efficiency of up to 95%, depending on the model. The series is designed for applications spanning electric power systems, industrial control, communications, Internet of Things (IoT) equipment, automotive electronics, and rail transit.

The series includes the HLK-K7803-500R3, HLK-K7805-500R3, HLK-K7809-500R3, HLK-K7812-500R3, and HLK-K7815-500R3 models. Positive-output versions provide 3.3 V, 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, or 15 V, with the 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, and 15 V models supporting up to 500 mA. Negative-output options are also available for -5 V, -12 V, and -15 V, with output currents up to 300 mA or 150 mA depending on the model. Input ranges extend to 36 VDC on several variants, providing flexibility for different DC supply rails.

The key features are:

  • SIP-3 package: 11.50 × 7.55 × 10.20 mm
  • Maximum capacitive load: Up to 680 µF
  • Transient response deviation: 50 mV typical
  • Temperature drift coefficient: ±0.03%/°C
  • MTBF: 2,000 K hours at 25°C under MIL-HDBK-217F conditions

The modules use an industry-standard SIP-3 package, measuring 11.50 × 7.55 × 10.20 mm and weighing 1.95 g. Their compact form factor allows designers to integrate regulated power conversion into space-constrained circuit boards without requiring a discrete regulator implementation. The modules operate from -40°C to +85°C, with derating required at elevated temperatures.

For power integrity, the K78xx-500R3 Series specifies ripple noise as low as 20 mVp-p typical, while short-circuit protection is designed to be sustainable and self-healing. The datasheet also specifies conducted and radiated EMI performance to CISPR32/EN55032 Class B with the recommended circuit, along with immunity specifications covering ESD, radiated fields, burst, surge, and conducted disturbances.

Typical circuits shown in the datasheet support positive and negative outputs, while an LC filter can be added when further ripple reduction is required. The modules therefore suit embedded controllers, communication equipment, industrial electronics, IoT nodes, and other systems requiring isolated-from-control simplicity in a compact regulated DC/DC solution.
