Skyworks Solutions has launched the Si86Px family of digital isolators with integrated power, combining signal isolation and power delivery into a single compact device. Designed for industrial and automotive electronics, the new family integrates a digital isolator, isolated dc dc converter, and miniature transformer, enabling simplified system design in space constrained environments.

The Si86Px addresses a key challenge in isolated system architectures, where generating reliable isolated power often requires multiple external components. By integrating both signal and power isolation, the solution helps reduce PCB area, bill of materials, and overall design complexity, while also supporting faster development cycles. It is intended to provide a stable and well regulated power source for sensitive components such as ADCs and sensors.

A major advantage of the Si86Px family is its ability to deliver up to 0.5 W of isolated power without requiring external transformers or power modules. This integration supports more compact and cost effective designs while maintaining performance in demanding environments. The devices also offer load regulation of 0.1 percent (typical), supporting precision applications where stable power delivery is critical.

In terms of applications, the Si86Px is suited for industrial automation systems, factory equipment, and automotive electronics operating in harsh conditions. With an operating temperature range from minus 40 degrees Celsius to plus 125 degrees Celsius and 3.75 kVrms isolation, the devices are designed for reliability across a wide range of use cases.

Key features include data rates up to 150 Mbps for high speed communication protocols such as SPI and RS 485, as well as common mode transient immunity of 100 kV per microsecond for maintaining data integrity in electrically noisy environments. The devices are offered in a compact WB SOIC package to support space efficient designs.

“At a time when industrial designs demand higher performance in smaller footprints, the Si86Px delivers a complete, easy‑to‑use isolation subsystem,” says Yusuf Jamal, senior vice president and general manager of the RF and mixed-signal intelligence solutions business at Skyworks. “By integrating power and signal isolation with industry‑leading load regulation, designers can simplify their designs without compromising performance.”
