As IoT applications become more data-intensive and widely distributed, developers are seeking connectivity solutions that balance performance with power efficiency and simplified integration. The module addresses this need by combining LTE Cat 1 bis connectivity with cloud-ready capabilities and streamlined onboarding, enabling faster development cycles and reduced time to market.

The module delivers key benefits for IoT developers and system integrators. Its ultra-low-power architecture supports long battery life for field-deployed devices, while built-in cloud integration simplifies device management, firmware updates, and observability. With global and regional variants, the nRF93M1 ensures reliable and scalable deployments across diverse markets.

From a design perspective, the module reduces complexity through standardized interfaces and compatibility with Nordic’s nRF54L host MCU reference design. This allows easier integration into both new and existing systems, while minimizing technical barriers between prototyping and production. Support for multiple SIM options, including IoT eSIM with remote provisioning and low-power SoftSIM, further enhances deployment flexibility.

On the feature front, the module also supports Wi-Fi and cellular-based location services, embedded peripherals, coexistence control, and ongoing regulatory certifications. It also integrates nRF Cloud services directly into the modem, enabling power-optimized location tracking, firmware OTA updates, and device monitoring via simple AT commands and the nRF Connect SDK.

“nRF93M1 delivers what customers have been asking for – a high-quality, low-power Cat 1 bis module that’s smaller, easier to integrate, and built for the cloud from day one,” says Oyvind Birkenes, Executive Vice President, Nordic Semiconductor. “It brings more performance with less complexity, giving developers a powerful, future-ready platform.”
