Compact Wi-Fi 6E/7 Antenna Targets Space-Constrained Devices

Designed for compact electronics, the new Wi-Fi 6E/7 PIFA antenna delivers reliable wireless connectivity without requiring additional PCB clearance, helping save valuable board space.

Antenova launches Petrosa WiFi 6E/7 antenna

As demand grows for faster and more reliable wireless connectivity in compact electronic devices, antenna performance has become a critical design consideration. Addressing this need, Antenova has introduced Petrosa (SR43W081), a compact surface-mount Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) designed for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 applications.

Unlike many conventional PCB antennas that require dedicated clearance areas, Petrosa is designed to operate directly on the PCB ground plane without additional clearance requirements. This simplifies PCB layout while allowing designers to maximize the available board space in compact products.

Some of the key specifications of the SR43W081 include:

  • Dimensions: 20 * 5* 5 mm
  • Passive FR4 PIFA chip antenna
  • Supports 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequency bands
  • Compatible with Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7, previous Wi-Fi standards, Bluetooth, and Zigbee
  • Operates across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +140°C
  • Part of the lamiiANT antenna family

According to the company, the antenna delivers omni-directional radiation with linear polarization and a 50Ω impedance, while offering gain figures of up to 4 dBi, depending on the operating band. For optimum RF performance, Antenova recommends placing the antenna along the long edge of the PCB.

The Petrosa antenna is aimed at applications requiring high data throughput and dependable wireless connectivity, including IoT devices, wireless access points, industrial equipment, wearable electronics, smart home products, AR/VR headsets, and gaming consoles. It is supplied in tape-and-reel packaging to support automated high-volume manufacturing.
