Current Transducer Released for Power Electronics

A current transducer measures DC and AC current in PCB power systems. It can be used in power supplies, battery testing, motion control, and power analysis.

Danisense has announced the DP12IP, a high-precision current transducer designed for isolated DC and AC current measurement in demanding PCB-mounted power electronics applications.

The transducer is intended for design engineers, power electronics developers, and test and measurement system manufacturers. They can use it to accurately measure and monitor current in power supplies, motion control systems, battery testing equipment, and power analysis systems while maintaining electrical isolation between the measured circuit and the measurement electronics.

Based on the company’s closed-loop compensated fluxgate technology, the DP12IP series combines ppm-class accuracy with a maximum linearity error of just 10 ppm and long-term stability in a compact PCB-mount package. The transducer has a form factor of 32 mm and weighs 250 g, allowing integration into 1U power supplies and other space-constrained equipment.

The DP12IP supports current measurement up to 18 A and accommodates measurement resistors up to 100 Ω at full scale. It uses a fixed excitation frequency and second-harmonic zero-flux detection to deliver stable and precise current measurement performance.

Typical applications include magnet power supplies for particle accelerators, stable precision power supplies, precision servo drives for motion control, battery test benches, battery emulators, and power measurement and power analysis systems.
