A compact quarter-brick power module combines a wide DC input range, high isolation, and multiple protection functions for demanding transportation electronics.

A new 150W DC/DC power module by Rajguru Electronics (I) PVT. LTD is designed to provide regulated power for railway systems and associated equipment where wide input variation, electrical isolation, and operation across demanding temperature conditions are important. The HLK-150MQ110S24A from Shenzhen Hi-Link Electronic Co., Ltd. accepts a 43VDC to 160VDC input and delivers a regulated 24VDC output at up to 6.25A. The module has a 110 VDC-rated input and is specified for railway applications under the EN50155 standard.

The quarter-brick module is designed around a wide 4:1 input range, allowing it to accommodate substantial variations in railway power buses. Its 150W output and single-output configuration make it suitable for powering electronic subsystems that require a stable 24V rail. The datasheet specifies a full-load efficiency of up to 91%, while no minimum output load is required.
Electrical protection is built into the module for use in systems where faults and abnormal operating conditions need to be contained. Functions include input undervoltage protection, output overcurrent and overvoltage protection, over-temperature protection, and short-circuit protection. The short-circuit function operates through a self-recovering hiccup mode. Remote control, output-voltage trimming, and remote compensation are also provided.
Isolation is another key characteristic. The module supports up to 3000VDC input-to-output isolation and 2100VDC input-to-case isolation, with a specified input-to-output insulation resistance of at least 100MΩ. These characteristics are intended to help separate the power source from downstream electronics in railway equipment.
The module operates from -40°C to +105°C and supports conduction or forced-air cooling. A radiator version is also available, with the datasheet specifying a 61 × 39 × 15mm aluminium-alloy radiator. The standard module weighs 72g, while the radiator version weighs 125g.
The module can therefore be considered for railway control electronics, onboard equipment and other transportation systems requiring isolated 24V power within a compact quarter-brick form factor.
