Electronics manufacturers face growing pressure to make production more sustainable while keeping throughput high and maintaining product performance. Traditional conformal coatings often rely on energy-intensive curing ovens and materials with environmental concerns, making it harder to meet these goals.
Nordson Electronics Solutions and actnano are tackling this challenge with fully compatible systems and materials. Nordson’s ASYMTEK conformal coating platforms now support actnano’s PFAS-free Advanced nanoGUARD (ANG) coatings, which protect printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) without the need for curing ovens. This allows manufacturers to reduce energy use and simplify processes while keeping product quality intact.
The integration works on ASYMTEK Select Coat SL-940 and SL-1040 platforms. These systems are designed for high-volume production, providing reliable handling and consistent coating with actnano materials. Together, they make it easier to switch from traditional coatings while unlocking the performance potential of greener alternatives.
Key system features that support this include:
- Agitating reservoirs to prevent particle settling, with customizable size and agitation options.
- Circulating fluid systems to maintain material consistency and avoid build-up during idle times.
- Circulating applicators (SC-350 Select Spray and SC-400 Precise Coat® Jet) for stable, precise coating.
- Extraction filters that manage atomized particle build-up and maintain airflow in spray applications.
- Dual ultrasonic cleaning stations that clean two applicators at once for higher uptime.
