The AC/DC series provides high efficiency in vital areas like healthcare and industrial environments, supported by high-level certifications and safety assurances.

AC/DC

The RACM600-L series of AC/DCs from RECOM now include 12V and 48VDC outputs with an enhanced peak power rating of 800W for dynamic loads. The company claims that the series presents in an open frame/U channel format, featuring a compact 7.7″ x 4″ size and a height of 1U (1.75″), which facilitates efficient convection cooling with output capacities reaching up to 430W continuously where contact cooling is unfeasible, and extending to 600W with airflow assistance. In terms of applications, the fully protected AC/DC series is suitable in critical sectors such as medical patient monitoring, industrial testing, and measurement settings, where maintaining high reliability and uptime is crucial. The series is designed to offer versatile cooling and mounting solutions, incorporating high-grade components and maintaining conservative ratings to support these demands.

The series accepts a universal input range of 80 to 275VAC and features an additional “always on” standby output rated at 5V and 0.5A. It offers the flexibility of paralleling parts, supplemented with integrated gating diodes and active current-sharing functionality. Users also benefit from features like remote ON/OFF controls, Power Supply Unit-Good indicators, remote sensing signals, and a Power Management Bus (PMBus) interface. Its operating temperature ranges from -20°C to 70°C, with derating variables based on airflow and input voltage factors.

The press release indicates that the series complies with several certifications, including the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)/European Norm (EN)/Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 62368-1 for IT/multimedia applications and the IEC/EN/American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) 60601-1 for medical purposes, showcasing a 2 Means of Patient Protection (2MOPP) rating and minimal leakage current, thereby making it apt for Body Floating (BF) patient-connect applications. These certifications ensure dependable performance up to altitudes of 5,000 meters for IT/multimedia and 3000 meters for medical settings. Additionally, the product exceeds the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) ‘Class B’ norms by a significant margin and exhibits efficiency, with ratings exceeding 90% and reaching up to 93%.
