An LTE module offers dual-mode GPS positioning, supports IoT applications such as tracking and payments, and works across networks in India. Find out more inside!

Fibocom, a provider of AIoT solutions and wireless communication modules, has introduced the L610-IN—the first LTE Cat.1 bis module to support dual-mode, dual-frequency positioning technology with IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System) and NAVIC. With its positioning capabilities, compatibility, and adaptability across various IoT applications, the module provides a connectivity solution tailored to the Indian IoT market. It complies with the AIS140 standard and supports applications such as fleet management and electronic toll collection (eToll).
The module is designed for users in industries such as transportation and logistics that require vehicle tracking. It also serves payment systems, shared economy platforms, industrial IoT operators, aftermarket automotive solutions providers, and city developers seeking IoT connectivity and positioning solutions for mid-to-low-speed applications in the Indian market.
The company claims that the module combines IRNSS and NAVIC dual-mode, dual-frequency positioning technology to enhance positioning accuracy and stability in India and its surrounding areas. It tackles issues caused by limited navigation signal coverage under challenging environments. The module complies with AIS 140 regulations in India, making it suitable for multiple applications and supporting communication requirements in transportation and logistics.
The press release states that the module comes in an LCC+LGA package and is pin-to-pin compatible with Fibocom’s LTE Cat.4 modules NL668 and L716. This allows users to switch between communication technologies with minimal hardware changes. Supporting LTE and GSM networks, it is designed for mid-to-low-speed applications and aftermarket automotive solutions. Features such as VoLTE HD voice, camera support, LCD, and multiple sensor interfaces (USB, UART, SPI, I2C, SDIO) provide end-to-end connectivity.
In addition to the L610-IN for India, Fibocom offers the L610-EU for Europe and the L610-LA for Latin America, covering global frequency bands. These versions support positioning and long-range communication, extending use in smart cities and tracking systems.
