High-Precision GNSS Positioning Modules

u-blox has launched two high-precision multi-band GNSS receivers that offer low power consumption, compact size, and provide centimeter-level accuracy within seconds.

NEO-F9P

The u-blox has launched two new Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) modules, NEO-F9P and ZED-F9P-15B, based on the u-blox F9 high-precision GNSS platform. According to the company’s claim, the NEO-F9P enables accurate navigation and automation of mobile industrial equipment with its low power consumption. Also, the ZED-F9P-15B offers customers in the mobile robotics industry the choice of L1/L5 frequencies alongside the L1/L2 bands. According to the press release issued by the company, the GNSS modules are well-suited for various applications such as precise navigation, automation in smart antennas, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and mobile robotics due to their compact size and low power consumption. According to the company’s claim, the modules provide reliable and efficient positioning capabilities and support open and standards-based correction services, enhancing performance.

The press release highlights that the GNSS modules introduce several features, including simultaneous reception of Global Positioning System (GPS), Galileo, and BeiDou system support for multi-band L1/L5 Real-Time Kinematics (RTK), quick convergence times, and consistent performance. The company claims that the module ensures centimeter-level precision within seconds and comes in an incredibly compact high-precision form factor, smaller than other such modules.

“With the NEO-F9P and the ZED-F9P-15B, u-blox is responding to the increased requirement for precise navigation and automation in industrial applications, particularly in the UAV and mobile robotics sectors,” says Alex Ngi, Product Manager, Industrial Navigation and Robotics, Product Center Positioning at u-blox. “By delivering centimeter-level accuracy in a compact and energy-efficient module, the NEO-F9P, u-blox-proven RTK engine, is ideal for space-constrained designs. It is now available in the NEO form factor, along with the L1/L5 option. The NEO-F9P offers customers an effective upgrade path from the u-blox NEO-M8P model. At the same time, the ZED-F9P-15B provides existing ZED customers with an L1/L5 alternative to L1/L2.”

Some of the key features of both modules include:
