A new modular data acquisition system combines high-speed sampling, long-duration recording, and flexible multi-channel measurement capabilities to support testing, validation, and troubleshooting across automotive, power electronics, renewable energy, and mechatronics applications.

The growing complexity of electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and advanced mechatronics is driving demand for test equipment capable of capturing both fast transient events and long-term operational behaviour. Addressing this need, Yokogawa Test & Measurement has introduced the SL2000 High-Speed Data Acquisition Unit, a modular platform designed for high-speed measurement, data logging, and analysis in demanding evaluation and validation environments.
The SL2000 combines the functionality of a mixed-signal oscilloscope and a data acquisition recorder in a single architecture, enabling engineers to monitor rapidly changing signals while simultaneously tracking long-duration trends. This capability makes the system suitable for research and development, product validation, durability testing, and troubleshooting tasks where synchronised acquisition of multiple parameters is essential.
The key features are:
- Sampling rate of up to 200 MS/s
- Supports up to 32 analog channels in a single chassis
- More than 20 interchangeable input module types
- Synchronisation of up to five SL2000/DL950 units
- Dual-capture architecture for simultaneous transient and long-term signal recording
Built on a modular design, the platform supports up to 8 slots and accommodates a wide range of input modules for electrical, mechanical, and vehicle communication measurements. Engineers can configure the system to analyse voltage, current, temperature, vibration, torque, and serial bus signals, allowing a single platform to address diverse test requirements. The system can also be synchronised with additional units, enabling large-scale measurement setups for complex applications.
A key capability of the SL2000 is its support for long-duration durability and reliability testing. The platform combines high-speed sampling rates with extensive data logging functionality, helping engineers capture intermittent events that may occur during extended test cycles. Integration with the IS8000 software platform further streamlines data acquisition, analysis, and reporting workflows, improving productivity during product development and verification activities.
The SL2000 is aimed at applications in automotive development, power electronics, renewable energy systems, industrial automation, and mechatronics. Typical use cases include electric motor evaluation, endurance testing of vehicle components, fault analysis in power and energy systems, and synchronised assessment of mechanical and electrical signals. By enabling comprehensive visibility into system behaviour, the platform supports engineers in accelerating design validation while improving measurement accuracy and reliability.
