New high-voltage diodes reduce switching loss in power systems. They are used in EV chargers, motor drives, and energy converters.

Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its Gen 7 1200 V FRED Pt Hyperfast rectifier portfolio with six new devices in the eSMP SMPC HV package for industrial, automotive, and energy systems. The focus is on reducing switching losses and improving efficiency in high-voltage power designs.
The new lineup includes 1 A, 2 A, and 3 A rectifiers in standard and AEC-Q101 qualified versions: VS-E7SX0112-M3V, VS-E7SX0212-M3V, VS-E7SX0312-M3V, and VS-E7SX0112HM3V, VS-E7SX0212HM3V, VS-E7SX0312HM3V.
The devices are designed to balance reverse recovery charge and forward voltage drop. They feature a recovery time of 50 ns, reverse recovery charge down to 105 nC (typical), forward voltage drop down to 1.45 V, and junction capacitance down to 7.25 pF. They also support non-repetitive peak surge current up to 70 A.
They are built in a compact 4.3 mm × 6.5 mm package with a 1.1 mm height and are footprint-compatible with TO-277A. A minimum creepage distance of 5.4 mm and high-CTI molding compound support high-voltage isolation needs under IEC 60664-1 and help reduce external component count and BOM cost.
These rectifiers are used as clamp, snubber, and freewheeling diodes in flyback auxiliary power supplies, bootstrap driver circuits, and high-frequency rectification stages. They also support desaturation protection in fast-switching IGBTs and Si/SiC MOSFET systems.
Applications include industrial motor drives, power tools, EV onboard chargers, energy generation and storage systems, and converter topologies such as Ćuk and SEPIC used in LED and industrial power supplies.
The devices use a planar structure with platinum-doped lifetime control to improve switching behavior and long-term reliability. They are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, MSL 1 rated, and support operation up to +175 °C.
