Experience significant robustness, safety, and efficiency improvements across various electronic applications.

Infineon Technologies unveils its latest innovation, the CoolMOS S7T product family, featuring an integrated temperature sensor designed to enhance the precision of junction temperature monitoring. The incorporation of these components brings about significant improvements in the robustness, safety, and efficiency of various electronic applications. The CoolMOS S7T stands out as the ideal choice for solid-state relay (SSR) applications, delivering heightened performance and reliability thanks to its exceptional RDS(on) and the inclusion of a highly precise embedded sensor.

The key features include:

  • The integrated temperature sensor offers a remarkable 40 percent accuracy improvement.
  • Response time is ten times faster than a conventional separate onboard sensor at the drain.

As solid-state relays (SSRs) play a crucial role in a wide range of electronic devices, integrating a superjunction MOSFET with a built-in sensor within the same package offers multiple advantages to customers. Infineon’s innovative strategy enhances the relay’s overall performance and guarantees consistent operation, even when subjected to heavy loads. Furthermore, this monitoring capability can be conducted independently within a multi-device system, resulting in heightened reliability.

It empowers the efficient utilisation of the power transistor, leading to heightened performance and accurate control over the output stage. Compared to electromechanical relays, it can double the enhancement in total power dissipation while surpassing current solid-state triac solutions by over fivefold in terms of efficiency—this improved efficiency and capacity to handle heavier loads significantly lower power consumption and reduce energy expenses.

The distinctive performance of the output stage, along with a substantial overcurrent threshold, enhances the reliability of the relay, reducing the likelihood of failures and downtime. This robust switching solution also guarantees safer operation. Thanks to the heightened durability of the MOSFET, the relay’s lifespan is extended, resulting in fewer replacements. Ultimately, these advantages collectively lead to reduced maintenance expenses. Engineering samples included in both TOLL and starter kits, are set to be accessible starting from February 2024.
