IQD, part of the Würth Elektronik eiSos Group, launched the ‘IQOV-116’, a miniature oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) that promises high stability in an extremely small form factor. Measuring just 7.5mm x 5.5mm, the IQOV-116 is the smallest surface-mount oscillator in the IQD range, delivering performance within the footprint of standard 7mm x 5mm clock oscillators. This innovation makes it ideal for modern applications that require both compact size and precise frequency control.

The series features a high-speed complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (HCMOS) output and delivers exceptional frequency stability of ±20ppb over a broad temperature range from -40°C to 95°C. In addition, it offers low phase noise of -150dBc/Hz at 1kHz, a 3.3V supply voltage, and minimal power consumption, operating at 230mA in steady state. With standard frequencies of 10.0MHz, 19.2MHz, and 20.0MHz, the series can also be customised for other frequency requirements, making it versatile for various industry needs.

This small yet powerful oscillator is designed for high-performance applications such as wireless communication systems, small cells, communication infrastructure, and frequency reference or measurement systems. Its compact size, combined with high stability, positions it as a reliable solution for devices where space and accuracy are crucial.

Additionally, the series can be delivered on tape & reel packaging, making it easy to integrate into automated assembly lines with standard ‘pick-n-place’ equipment. The oscillator’s precise frequency stability surpasses that of standard clock oscillators and temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), thanks to the heating of the quartz crystal in an oven that minimises frequency drift caused by temperature fluctuations.
