TDK has expanded its edgeRX predictive maintenance platform with the SensEI edgeRX PRO, a compact sensor node that combines vibration, acoustic, magnetic, temperature, and rotational motion sensing.

The device is designed to capture a wider range of equipment conditions and identify anomalies that may not be detected through vibration monitoring alone. It adds a 6-axis IMU, magnetometer, and digital microphone, along with higher sampling frequencies and on-device edge AI processing for more detailed equipment analysis.

The edgeRX PRO is housed in an IP67-rated enclosure for industrial environments and can run from either a battery or USB power. When both are connected, USB power takes priority, allowing the sensor to be used for evaluation and testing as well as permanent installations.

For continuous condition monitoring, the sensor can provide up to 10 years of battery life. This supports long-term monitoring of industrial equipment and can help identify potential problems before they develop into failures.

The additional sensing capabilities also broaden the types of conditions the platform can monitor. Applications include compressed air leak detection, acoustic anomaly detection, rotational and alignment analysis, oil and gas leak detection, and monitoring of rail components and bearings.

The edgeRX PRO is aimed at applications across manufacturing, energy and utilities, HVAC and smart buildings, and warehousing and industrial facilities. Target industries include lithium battery production, semiconductor manufacturing, precision machining, iron and steel, electric power, natural gas, and oil and gas.

“edgeRX PRO gives customers greater flexibility in how they deploy predictive maintenance at scale,” said Sundeep Ahluwalia, Chief Product Officer at TDK SensEI. “By incorporating acoustic and magnetometer sensing, edgeRX PRO addresses a wider range of predictive maintenance applications. Support for wired power enables higher sampling rates and more robust AI models, while up to 10 years of battery life allows for scalable, low-maintenance deployments across industrial environments.”
