Axelera AI M.2 is an AI EDGE accelerator module. It is powered by a single Metis AI processing unit (AIPU). This module delivers up to 214 tera-operations per second (TOPs) while minimizing power consumption and simplifying integration through the downloadable software stack. The Axelera AI M.2 can provide a significant boost to any vision processing system with an NGFF (Next Generation Form Factor) M.2 socket. It is a high-performance, cost-effective and user-friendly platform combining hardware and software to accelerate computer vision at the edge. The module provides high processing at a fraction of the cost and power consumption of alternative solutions available in the market. It will enable engineers to develop smaller and more cost-effective products for computer vision applications.

“Being at the forefront of innovation, and supporting our customers in digitalizing their business models has always been at the core of our strategy. Accelerated edge AI is a disruptive technology that will open great opportunities in several verticals. With Axelera AI, we want to become the European reference player in the Edge AI computer vision market, leveraging our design and customization capabilities to deliver high-performance, user-friendly solutions that cut our customer’s time-to-market, reduce their technological complexity and allow them to focus on their business goals”, said Massimo Mauri, CEO of SECO.

An AI edge accelerator, also known as an edge AI accelerator, is a hardware device designed to accelerate the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) applications at the edge of a network. Edge devices are those that are located closer to the data source or the end user, such as smartphones, drones, robots, and IoT sensors. These devices typically have limited processing power, memory, and storage capacity, which makes it challenging to run complex AI and ML algorithms on them.

The Axelera AI M.2 edge accelerators will enable organizations to reduce the latency and bandwidth requirements of their AI and ML applications. This will lead to faster and more responsive systems. Axelera AI M.2 Edge accelerators can also help to reduce the power consumption of edge devices, which is particularly important for applications that are battery-powered or have limited power supplies.
