AxCIS is a high-speed and high-resolution line scan camera in a fully integrated, compact package for demanding machine vision applications.

Teledyne DALSA has revealed a new family of high-speed and high-resolution fully integrated line scan imaging modules named AxCIS. The module incorporates sensors, lenses, and lights all-in-one single housing making it cheaper and faster to deploy. The Contact Image Sensors (CIS) are suitable for many demanding machine vision applications. This CIS sensor is easy-to-use and offers a lower system cost for many demanding machine vision applications as well as a superior signal-to-noise ratio and a Camera Link HS SFP+ fibre-optic interface

AxCIS is powered by Teledyne’s new quad linear CMOS image sensors, which deliver up to 120 kHz line rates for mono and 60 kHz x 3 for colour at 900 dpi resolution, allowing for unprecedented defect detection. Its unique staggered sensor design covers the entire field of view with no missing pixels, resulting in a completely seamless image with no interpolation. A dual exposure mode can be used to achieve HDR imaging, which improves detectability for highly reflective materials while also increasing dynamic range.

With the high rate of up to 120 kHz line rates for mono and 60 kHz x 3 for colour imaging along with a 900 dpi resolution, Teledyne’s revolutionary quad linear CMOS image sensors enable the module to achieve flaw detection with a high degree of accuracy. A smooth, 100%-realistic image without any interpolation is produced by its distinctive staggered sensor architecture, which covers the whole field of vision without missing pixels. A dual exposure mode, which offers enhanced detectability for highly reflective materials with improved dynamic range, may be used to create HDR images

Its Camera Link HS SFP+ fibre-optic interface delivers high-resolution images over standard low-cost, long-length cables (up to 300m) with high reliability of data transmission. AxCIS is available in widths of 400mm, 800mm, plus any other widths in increments of 100mm and it can fit anywhere in your system, even with limited vertical clearance. The module is suitable for use in general machine vision applications such as battery inspection, production line inspection, PCB inspection, etc.

“AxCIS offers a fully integrated, easy-to-use, cost-effective line scan imaging solution to meet the requirements of space-limited systems, such as print, printed circuit board and web inspection,” said Xing-Fei He, Senior Product Manager at Teledyne DALSA. “Superior image quality, high resolution 900 dpi imaging combined with HDR mode significantly improves detectability in the most demanding applications, including Li battery inspection.”
