The PI2EQX1624 from Diodes is the industry’s first ReDriver device for PCI Express 4.0 to run at 1.8V to extend the length of PCB traces. The lower operational voltage enables it to work at reduced power consumption. The device consumes about 27mW in the low-power mode while requiring around 288mW when at active mode. The device provides programmable linear equalization, and flat gain, by I2C Control, to optimize performance over a variety of physical mediums by reducing interference. The PI2EQX1624 can be used in a wide field of applications including data centres, servers, energy storage plants, automobiles, etc.

The PI2EQX1624 features four differential channels that are independently configurable in terms of receiver equalization and flat gain. This mitigates inter-symbol interference and allows signal loss compensation so that longer PCB trace lengths can be achieved. As the I2C interface is used for such configuration work, firmware requirements are minimal. P2EQX16924 supports four 100Ω differential CML data I/Os and extends the signals across other distant data pathways on the user’s platform.
