Arralis introduces X-TR-DL-78, an X-Band Transceiver Module with an Rx frequency from 7 to 7.5 GHz and a Tx frequency from 8 to 8.5 GHz.
When it comes to satellite communications the scalability of devices and used technology is very important to consider. The devices incorporated are required to be as lightweight as possible. Considering the communication part of a satellite, using a highly configurable transceiver can turn out to be an ideal solution.
Arralis has introduced a fully-integrated standalone transceiver solution, X-TR-DL-78, an X-Band Transceiver Module with an Rx frequency from 7 to 7.5 GHz and a Tx frequency from 8 to 8.5 GHz. It operates as a Up/Down converter for Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The transceiver operates in dual conversion super-heterodyne mode using two LO’s allowing for greater rejection of unwanted frequencies.
The module consists of a high-precision clock for LO generation which can be used as a reference for other modules or as a lock to an external system reference. The module can also be combined with a modem/Software Defined Radio (SDR) to enable a fully functional X-band satellite communication system.
X-TR-DL-78 delivers a saturated output power of 2 W with a conversion gain of 30 dB and a phase noise of -123 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset on the transmitter side. Whereas, on the receiver side, this converter has a conversion gain of 30 dB with a noise figure of 1.8 dB and has a phase noise of -123 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The device works on a DC supply of 12 to 36 V in Tx mode and 6 to 42 V in Rx mode. The transceiver dimensions measure 96 x 91 x 33 mm with an SMPM edge mount connector.
