- Cadence Tensilica HiFi DSP enables energy-efficient, high-quality audio playback for dolby atmos for cars
Cadence Design Systems has announced the inclusion of a digital signal processor (DSP) IP in Cadence Tensilica HiFi DSP IP. It is the first DSP IP supporting Dolby Atmos for car. The Dolby Atmos can enhance the immersive sound experience for in-car entertainment systems while reducing energy consumption.
Cadence Tensilica is a line of configurable processor cores and associated software development tools. These cores can be customized to optimize performance and power consumption for specific applications, such as digital signal processing, multimedia, and networking. The Tensilica processor cores can be integrated into SOC (System on Chip) designs to provide specialized processing capabilities. The software development tools include compilers, debuggers, and other tools that enable developers to efficiently create and optimize software for the Tensilica cores.
According to the company, offloading Dolby Atmos to the low-energy, high-performance Tensilica HiFi DSP enables system-on-chip (SoC) providers to offer automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers a more energy-efficient implementation without affecting the audio experience.
The Dolby Atmos is said to provide high quality music experience and the sound signature and playback quality is delivered as intended by the music artist. It offers greater audio details, clarity and sound separation, thus improving the overall music experience.
