The UBI206 chip can bring Wi-Fi connectivity to your IoT solution while consuming lesser battery power than a BLE chip.

Ubilite has released the UBI206 platform based on its UBI206 System on Chip (SoC). It enables an ultra-low power Wi-Fi solution with improvement in power consumption that is targeted for IoT applications. It can enable designers to create products with Wi-Fi connectivity with a battery life exceeding any other similar product. The UBI206 platform is a highly integrated product that integrates communication, power management unit (PMU), memory and processor in a single product. The chip reduces the BoM cost and simplifies designing an IoT system. The UBI206 platform is suitable for ultra-low power IoT markets including healthcare, wearables, trackers, industrial systems monitoring and control, etc.

The SoC includes a switchless 802.11b/g/n radio, baseband processor, medium access controller (MAC), power management unit (PMU), memories, and a network application processor that runs the Wi-Fi link-layer protocols, TCP/IP stack, and IoT application. It comes in a small package measuring just 5x5mm. UBI206 platform also features an IEEE 802.11/b/g/n connectivity and has a data rate of up to 72.2 Mbps. It has a DTIM10 power consumption of 85uA while the active power consumption of the receiver and transmitter are 17mW and 25mW respectively. Even with the Wi-Fi connectivity which is superior to Bluetooth connectivity, the product has a power consumption equivalent to a BLE solution.

“UBI206 specifications are better by an order of magnitude than existing Wi-Fi solutions. The UBI206 was designed from the ground up at the system level to optimize for the lowest operating power and is the result of many years of development,” said Ismail Lakkis, CEO and founder of Ubilite. “Our solution offers a Wi-Fi experience with power consumption matching Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), thereby unleashing the full power of the IoT and enabling applications never before possible.”
