OLEDs For Extreme Applications

The OLED displays operate from -40° to +80°C, making them suitable for devices ranging from handheld GPS to industrial equipment.

OLEDs

DISPLAY VISIONS’ OLED displays are designed to function in environments ranging from very cold to very hot. The displays operate reliably across temperatures from -40° to +80°C, with a response time of 10 µs at -40°C, without afterglow. They are suitable for refrigeration, cold storage, outdoor handheld devices, drying kilns, saunas, and machine rooms.

The displays serve outdoor device manufacturers, such as those producing handheld GPS systems or outdoor kiosks, because of their ability to withstand harsh conditions. Industries that operate equipment within high-temperature settings like drying kilns, machine rooms, saunas, and spas can use these displays due to their ability to function at high temperatures. Electronic developers and hobbyists appreciate these OLEDs’ ease of integration and flexibility, making them suitable for prototyping and small-scale applications. This versatility makes them a practical choice across various professional and industrial areas where reliable screen technology is essential.

The OLEDs use self-illuminating technology, eliminating the need for a backlight and allowing for a 2—to 2.5 mm thickness. They do not experience temperature-dependent contrast drift, maintaining a clear display from any viewing angle and a contrast ratio over 1,000:1.

The displays are white and yellow, with polarizers and protective glass options. They feature pins in a 2.54 mm grid for direct soldering, facilitating sample development and series production by reducing the need for assemblies. A ZIFF connector for flexible cable connections is also available. The integrated controller supports SPI and I²C interfaces and operates on a 3.3 V supply voltage.

The OLEDs range in size from 0.66″ to 5.5″, with resolutions from 64×48 to 256×64 dots. The 2″ EA OLEDM204 model is designed for text and can display text in larger sizes, such as 3×20 or 2×20 characters.
