ROHM’s TLR1901GXZ is a CMOS operational amplifier designed for applications where space and power are limited. It achieves the industry’s lowest operating current, making it suitable for handheld measurement instruments, wearable devices, and indoor motion detectors. Its typical operating current is 160 nA, supporting high-density mounting and battery life. The device features a WLCSP (Wafer Level Chip Scale Package) with a 0.35 mm ball pitch, achieving a footprint of under 1 mm².

The op amp is suitable for a range of applications. In consumer devices, it can be used in wearables, smart devices, and motion sensors. In industrial equipment, it supports gas detectors, fire alarms, handheld measurement instruments, data loggers, and environmental sensors for IoT applications.

With growing demand for sensing in battery-powered devices, amplifying signals from sensors detecting temperature, humidity, vibration, pressure, or flow is increasingly important. At the same time, miniaturization and energy efficiency are important for designs, requiring components that are both small and low-power. The TLR1901GXZ offers precision with a maximum input offset voltage of 0.55 mV, about 45% lower than typical ultra-low current op amps. Its input offset voltage temperature drift is 7 µV/°C, ensuring operation across a temperature range.

The company has leveraged process, packaging, and Nano Energy technologies to develop an op amp that delivers low power consumption, accuracy, and size. Design flexibility is increased when the op amp is paired with ROHM’s general-purpose resistors, such as the MCR004 (0402 metric / 01005 inch) and MCR006 (0603 metric / 0201 inch), for tasks like gain adjustment. The MCR004 series includes the MCR004E, a lead-free option for designs. Adapter boards with SSOP5 package ICs are also available to support evaluations and replacements.

The company will continue improving op amps by advancing miniaturization and low-power technologies. Efforts will also focus on reducing noise and offset, expanding power supply voltage ranges, and enabling control in applications, contributing to energy efficiency and social benefits.
