Power Supply For Tight Panels

Tight panels, harsh inputs, peak loads, and safety rules make power design hard. This solution shows how engineers can solve these problems in one setup.

Design engineers working on industrial, building automation, energy, data communication, and infrastructure systems often struggle to fit reliable, high-power supplies into tight panels while meeting safety, efficiency, and uptime needs. RECOM’s RACPRO1-S240 DIN-rail AC/DC power supply addresses these problems by delivering 240W in a slim 39mm-wide module, while still providing up to 288W continuous power at 45°C and a 150% power boost for five seconds to handle short peak loads.

Many systems also face unstable input conditions, load spikes, and harsh electrical environments. This unit supports wide AC and DC input ranges without derating, includes inrush current limiting and power factor correction, and provides an adjustable, regulated 24VDC output. It protects against short circuits, over-current, over-voltage, and reverse voltages up to 50V, which commonly occur with motors and inductive loads. For applications that require high uptime, an integrated ORing diode allows multiple supplies to be connected in parallel for n+1 redundancy or load sharing.

Thermal stress, energy loss, and long-term reliability are common concerns in industrial panels. High efficiency of up to 95% reduces heat and supports operation from -40°C to +60°C without derating, while keeping no-load power use to about 1W. Compliance with key safety and EMC standards ensures safe and stable operation in heavy industrial environments.

Fast installation and simple system monitoring also matter during setup and maintenance. Tool-less DIN-rail mounting, push-in terminals with angled connections, a DCOK LED, and volt-free relay contacts help speed up installation and make system status easy to check.

“We have packed a host of features into our new 240W DIN-rail AC/DC to make it truly compatible with a wide range of applications, while keeping cost and size down” comments Michael Peters, Business & Product Manager of RECOM.
