How can industrial equipment combine precise motor control with stronger firmware protection? A microcontroller family brings real-time processing and post-quantum security together.

Infineon PSOC Control C3 PSC3M/P6 microcontrollers combine advanced security with high-performance multi-motor control and power conversion capabilities.
Infineon Technologies has expanded its PSOC Control C3 microcontroller family with the PSC3M/P6 series, designed to combine real-time motor and power conversion control with advanced firmware security. The microcontrollers can control up to four brushless DC motors using a single chip, potentially reducing component count in compact industrial and embedded systems.
Based on an Arm Cortex-M33 processor running at up to 180MHz, the devices target applications including industrial drives, robotics, drones, home appliances, renewable energy systems and power supplies for telecommunications servers and datacentres. Their fast control loops and integrated analogue processing are intended to improve response to real-time events, control accuracy and system efficiency.
The family is designed for systems using wide-bandgap power semiconductors, such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride devices, where fast switching and precise control can help improve power conversion performance. Additional analogue and digital peripherals, including on-chip operational amplifiers and USB and I3C interfaces, also support designs beyond motor control.
Security is a key part of the series. The microcontrollers support firmware protection aligned with the Commercial National Security Algorithm (CNSA) Suite 2.0 post-quantum cryptography requirements, including SHA-512 and Leighton-Micali Signature (LMS) verification for secure boot and firmware updates. They also support Platform Security Architecture (PSA) Level 3 and are designed to help developers address evolving cybersecurity requirements, including those associated with the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act.
Infineon offers separate variants for motor control (PSC3M6) and power conversion (PSC3P6), with multiple package options of up to 100 pins. The portfolio is scalable across memory, packages, pinouts and performance, while ModusToolbox Power Suite and Motor Suite provide development tools and control libraries to support implementation.
Steve Tateosian, senior vice president and general manager of IoT, Consumer and Industrial MCUs at Infineon Technologies, “These next-generation MCUs are designed for multi-motor control and power conversion systems that require high-performance, efficiency and advanced security features.”
