As AI and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads continue to push cloud infrastructure toward greater scale and efficiency, Nuvoton has expanded its silicon portfolio for Open Compute Project (OCP)-based platforms. The lineup includes the Arbel NPCM8mnx System-in-Package (SiP), NPCM5mnx Satellite Management Controller (SMC), battery monitoring ICs, and the NuMicro M2354 microcontroller, addressing server management, power monitoring, platform security, and thermal control in next-generation AI data centers.

The key features are:

  • Up to 70% reduction in BMC board space with SiP integration
  • Supports daisy-chain battery monitoring across up to 55 devices
  • ARM Cortex-M7-based Satellite Management Controller
  • Dedicated ultra-low-power battery transportation and storage mode
  • Integrated I²C connectivity management for data center platforms

The Arbel NPCM8mnx SiP integrates the complete Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) subsystem into a single package, enabling more compact AI server designs while simplifying hardware development and cloud platform deployment. Built with an open architecture, the device incorporates post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to enhance security while supporting scalable server infrastructure.

For distributed management in AI servers and GPU accelerators, the NPCM5mnx Satellite Management Controller combines an ARM Cortex-M7 processor with Caliptra 2.1 Root of Trust and PQC support. It also enables multi-node server architectures and OCP Streaming Boot, helping improve platform management, firmware integrity, and overall system scalability.

The portfolio also includes battery monitoring ICs designed for high-voltage battery backup units (BBUs) used in AI servers and large-scale energy storage systems. These ICs simplify 400V and 800V BBU implementations by reducing component count and board complexity while improving monitoring reliability in high-voltage environments.

Security functions are further strengthened by the NuMicro M2354 microcontroller, which integrates TrustZone, Secure Boot, DICE architecture, SPDM responder, PLDM firmware management, and post-quantum cryptography. These capabilities establish device-level trust, support authenticated firmware updates, and prepare cloud and IoT platforms for future cryptographic requirements.

Completing the offering is a system management portfolio featuring ultra-low-power temperature sensors, intelligent fan control, and I²C connectivity management. Together, these technologies help optimize thermal performance, improve energy efficiency, and enhance operational reliability in AI-focused cloud infrastructure, making the solutions suitable for hyperscale data centers, OCP platforms, GPU clusters, and next-generation cloud servers.
