SiC Inverter Extends Rooftop Solar Capacity

Can higher-capacity rooftop systems remain efficient under Indian conditions? A three-phase inverter uses SiC switching and three MPPTs to handle larger installations.

Zenergize expands solar inverter portfolio with new 15 kW three-phase offering

Zenergize has launched a 15 kW three-phase grid-tied solar inverter aimed at larger residential and small commercial installations, extending its existing 3 kW and 5 kW SiC-based inverter portfolio.

The inverter is designed to accept up to 20 kWp of photovoltaic input and uses three maximum power point tracking (MPPT) channels. Multiple MPPTs allow solar arrays with different orientations or operating conditions to be tracked independently, giving system designers greater flexibility when configuring rooftop installations.

The power-conversion stage uses silicon carbide (SiC) technology, which can reduce switching and conduction losses compared with conventional silicon devices. Zenergize says its latest platform achieves up to 98.5% maximum efficiency and 98.2% conversion efficiency. The inverter is specified to operate between -25°C and 55°C and carries an IP65 enclosure rating for protection against dust and water.

The higher-capacity design is intended for applications including larger homes, villas, institutions and small commercial establishments. It also builds on the company’s earlier inverter deployments, including installations under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The launch also marks a partnership between Zenergize and Infineon Technologies. Zenergize says the collaboration will combine its application and system-level engineering capabilities with Infineon’s semiconductor expertise for further power-electronics development. The company unveiled the inverter and partnership at Infineon’s OktoberTech event in Bengaluru.

Navneet Daga, Co-founder and CEO, Zenergize, says, “Our focus is on building power-electronics products in India around the operating realities of the markets we serve. Our partnership with Infineon strengthens this technology-led approach, bringing together our application and system-level capabilities with Infineon’s semiconductor expertise as we develop the next generation of power-electronics products.”
