Anritsu Introduces EcoSyn Lite MG36021A Microwave Synthesizer Module Outstanding Phase Noise, Ultra-fast Switching Speed and Compact Size

Anritsu has introduced the EcoSyn Lite Microwave Synthesizer Module. This compact module adds to Anritsu’s signal generator lineup, alongside its Rubidium bench-top models, to support a broad range of signal generation needs.

The module features a wide frequency range from 10 MHz to 20 GHz with up to +18 dBm output power. Its small 4 x 4 x 0.8 inch size makes it easy to fit into space-constrained setups. Users can integrate high-performance signal generation into systems where space and portability are critical.

It delivers phase noise performance of -126 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz and 10 kHz offset, rivaling many larger bench-top instruments. This allows it to serve as a stable local oscillator for up/down converters in RF and microwave transceivers, supporting complex, high-order modulation schemes. With non-harmonic spurious of -60 dBc, it ensures low jitter, making it well-suited for testing high-speed ADCs, DACs, and optical systems.

The module offers ultra-fast frequency switching in less than 50 µs in triggered list mode. This high speed reduces overall test time in automatic test equipment setups, increasing throughput and lowering costs. In radar cross section measurements, where thousands of frequencies are used to profile targets like aircraft, ships, and missiles, the fast switching significantly shortens total measurement time. Antenna testing also benefits from the reduced data collection time.

Some of the key features of the

  • Frequency range from 10 MHz to 20 GHz
  • Very low phase noise: -126 dBc/Hz at 10 GHz and 10 kHz offset.
  • High output power up to +18 dBm for strong signal generation.
  • Small form factor: 4 x 4 x 0.8 inches
  • Non-harmonic spurious performance of -60 dBc

The company says that the module supports both USB and SPI interfaces for easy remote control and is powered by a simple +12 VDC supply. Its compatibility with standard SCPI and QuickSyn native commands simplifies automation and scripting, allowing users to integrate it into automated test systems with minimal effort.
