Teknic Launches New NEMA 17 Integrated Servo Motors

Teknic has introduced ClearPath-EC NEMA 17 brushless servo motors with integrated EtherCAT motion control for compact automation systems. The motors offer peak power of 25–109 W and continuous power of 24–95 W.

The motors combine a brushless servo motor, EtherCAT servo drive, high-resolution encoder, and EtherCAT interface in a single NEMA 17 package. This design reduces control cabinet space, simplifies wiring, and eliminates the need for separate motor and feedback cables. The motors are compatible with standard EtherCAT masters.

ClearPath-EC updates position, velocity, and torque every 0.25 ms and can synchronise hundreds of axes within 1 µs. It supports CiA 402 motion control modes, including cyclic synchronous position (CSP), cyclic synchronous velocity (CSV), cyclic synchronous torque (CST), profile position, velocity, torque, and homing.

Teknic provides free ClearView configuration software to simplify setup and commissioning. Automatic tuning helps optimise servo performance. The motors also include RAS motion smoothing, electronic Inertia Matching Technology (IMT), and built-in diagnostic tools to support motion optimisation and machine design validation.

Measuring 2.87 inches in length, the motors are designed for applications where installation space is limited. Their power range and motion control capabilities make them suitable for machine builders, automation engineers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) developing compact machinery. These users can integrate the motors into systems that require precise positioning, controlled speed and torque, and synchronised movement across multiple axes. Potential applications include medical equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, packaging machinery, and computer numerical control (CNC) equipment.
