Micro-Epsilon introduces an IO-Link-enabled laser distance sensor with enhanced firmware, delivering faster response, stable measurements and simplified integration for modern industrial automation systems.
Micro-Epsilon has expanded its portfolio of laser distance sensors with the introduction of the optoNCDT ILR3800-100-IO, a new model featuring an integrated IO-Link interface designed to simplify connectivity and improve performance in industrial automation. Alongside the new hardware, the company has also released a firmware update that enhances measurement stability and enables faster responses during dynamic measurement tasks.
The optoNCDT ILR3800-100-IO combines the proven capabilities of the standard ILR3800-100 sensor with standardised IO-Link communication based on the IEC 61131-9 specification. This enables quick integration into existing automation systems while reducing installation complexity and commissioning time. The IO-Link interface also supports automatic re-parameterisation when a sensor is replaced, minimising maintenance efforts and reducing production downtime.
The latest firmware introduces an integrated auto-correction function that filters extreme measurement values to deliver more stable and accurate readings. In addition, a dedicated DYNAMIC preset has been developed for applications involving rapidly changing distances. The feature optimises the sensor’s response speed, allowing it to accurately capture fast-moving objects and dynamic processes.
Designed for demanding industrial environments, the sensor retains the compact design, lightweight construction and robust IP67-rated housing of the standard model. It also maintains high signal stability across a variety of surface types while offering a measuring range of up to 100 metres, extendable to 150 metres when used with a reflector.
According to Micro-Epsilon, the combination of high-precision laser measurement, modern IO-Link communication and enhanced firmware makes the optoNCDT ILR3800-100-IO well suited for automated production systems, material handling, logistics and other industrial applications where reliable, high-speed distance measurement and seamless system integration are essential.
