A new embedded JTAG software release accelerates automated boundary scan test development with enhanced measurement integration, debugging, visualization, and programming capabilities for complex electronic assemblies.

GÖPEL electronic has introduced SYSTEM CASCON Version 4.11, the latest release of its embedded JTAG software platform designed to automate the creation of boundary scan and in-system programming test programs. The update focuses on reducing engineering effort while improving test coverage for increasingly complex electronic assemblies used across industrial, automotive, and embedded applications.
A key enhancement is a new toolbox that automatically generates test programs using available design information such as CAD data, netlists, and component lists. By converting these inputs into executable test routines, the software significantly shortens test development time and enables engineers to deploy production-ready test sequences with minimal manual intervention.
The key features are:
- Supports over 18,000 reusable device models in its library
- Includes 40+ integrated tools for automated test development
- User-editable device models and BSDL libraries
- Supports multiple programming strategies for embedded devices
- Provides verification-based debugging up to complete system level
The latest version introduces several capabilities aimed at improving test execution and diagnostics. These include support for integrating analogue test instruments through virtual test channels, allowing electrical measurements to be incorporated into automated boundary scan workflows. A newly added Measurement Widget displays measured values alongside tolerance limits, helping engineers quickly verify test results during validation and production. In addition, a configurable UUT (Unit Under Test) Status Panel consolidates and visualises all test outcomes, providing operators with a clearer overview of system health and fault locations.
The release also upgrades existing tools such as the ViPX Netlist Explorer, while expanding the VarioTAP processor emulation model library. These improvements strengthen support for processor-assisted testing and simplify the validation of sophisticated embedded systems containing programmable devices and high-density interconnects.
Beyond boundary scan testing based on IEEE 1149.x standards, SYSTEM CASCON integrates processor emulation, FPGA-assisted testing, embedded diagnostics, design validation, debugging, and device programming within a single software environment. The platform automates the complete workflow—from importing design data to generating documentation—making it suitable for electronics manufacturers seeking higher productivity and consistent test quality.
With an extensive library of more than 18,000 component models and support for user-defined modifications, GÖPEL electronic SYSTEM CASCON Version 4.11 offers electronics manufacturers a scalable platform for accelerating board validation, in-system programming, production testing, and fault diagnosis across modern PCB assemblies.
