The long-term partnership will support next-generation vehicle platforms by ensuring access to critical memory and storage technologies.

Micron Technology has made a strategic pact with General Motors (GM) to secure the supply of memory and storage semiconductor components for GM’s future software-defined vehicle architectures. This strategic collaboration will ensure that GM has access to critical memory and storage components as modern vehicles increasingly rely on AI, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and software-driven features.
The Strategic Customer Agreement (SCA) provides GM access to key memory solutions such as low-power DRAM (LPDRAM), NOR flash memory and UFS NAND products. The agreement also entails collaboration on the validation and qualification of next-generation memory technologies.
The announcement comes as automakers continue to prioritise supply-chain stability following years of semiconductor shortages. It is among the 16 Strategic Customer Agreements announced by Micron Corporation during its fiscal third-quarter 2026 earnings call.
According to Micron, this agreement forms part of its continued strategy to manufacture automotive semiconductors in the US, such as its two-billion-dollar modernisation of its manufacturing facility in Manassas, Virginia, which began production earlier this year.
“Our expanding manufacturing efforts in the United States are designed to enable GM to deliver both near-term products as well as secure U.S.-based supply to support next generation platforms and innovation,” said Sanjay Mehrotra, Chairman, President and CEO of Micron Technology.
In accordance with the partnership, both companies will collaborate on future memory and storage technologies to improve reliability, scalability and performance across upcoming vehicle generations.
