Imagine a fuse that doesn’t just break but predicts danger. These devices deliver smart, multi-layered protection for today’s compact, power-heavy devices.

As there is a growing need for smarter, more reliable device protection as modern electronics become smaller and more power-dense. Traditional fuses can only break a circuit, but these eFuses go further by combining multiple safeguards like short-circuit protection, current limiting, overvoltage control and thermal shutdown into a single compact chip. .
Toshiba Electronic Devices and Storage Corporation, has introduced its 40V TCKE6 series of electronic fuses (eFuse ICs), adding five fresh models to its power-protection lineup. Unlike traditional fuses that only break the circuit during a fault, these eFuses offer much smarter protection. They not only guard against short circuits but against multiple power spike and failure issues.
The company claims that these devices are suitable for advanced equipment like industrial robots, PLCs, multifunction printers and even for robotic cleaners. The series claims to provide a reliable protection for a wide range of modern systems.
By packing multiple safety functions into a single chip, the eFuses help prevent damage to downstream components thereby helping engineers create smaller, simpler and more efficient circuit designs. The devices support a wide input range of 4.4V to 30V making them compatible with common power rails such as 5V, 9V, 12V and 24V. They also provide a low on-resistance of 52mΩ which helps reduce power loss. All models come in a tiny TSOP6F package, making it suitable for space-constrained industrial and consumer electronics.
The series also includes various fault indicator (FLAG) output, EN (enable) control, and a selectable mode option that helps users switch between auto-retry and latched recovery. This gives design engineers the flexibility to choose the best compatible fuse option for their equipment.
The company also has future plans to expand this lineup further to meet the evolving needs of industrial and consumer application..
