A new series of AEC-Q200 qualified thick film chip resistors by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. in the ultra-compact 0201 case size is now available, giving designers a space-saving option for automotive, industrial, and telecommunications applications. Measuring just 0.6 mm × 0.3 mm × 0.23 mm, the devices are engineered to reduce PCB footprint requirements while maintaining stable electrical performance and long-term reliability.

The key features are:

  • 0201 case size (0.6 mm × 0.3 mm × 0.23 mm)
  • AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive reliability
  • 0.05 W power rating at +70 °C, 30 V operating voltage
  • –55 °C to +155 °C operating temperature range
  • Resistance range 10 Ω to 1 MΩ (±1%, ±5%, ±200 ppm/K TCR)

Compared to conventional 0402 components, the 0201 resistors reduce board space consumption by 50%, supporting ongoing miniaturization trends in advanced electronic systems. This size advantage is particularly valuable in automotive ECUs, ADAS modules, industrial controls, and compact telecom infrastructure, where board density continues to increase.

Despite their miniature dimensions, the resistors provide a rated power dissipation of 0.05 W at +70 °C and support an operating voltage of up to 30 V. They operate across a wide temperature range from –55 °C to +155 °C, aligning with stringent automotive and industrial environmental requirements.

The series is available in resistance values from 10 Ω to 1 MΩ, including a 0 Ω jumper option. Tolerances of ±1% and ±5% are offered, with a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of ±200 ppm/K.

Designed for robust field performance, the devices feature a protective coating that enhances electrical, mechanical, and climatic durability. They are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and finished with pure matte tin plating to ensure compatibility with both Pb-free and lead-containing soldering processes. The resistors are suitable for automated assembly using reflow or vapor phase soldering techniques.

Samples and production quantities are currently available, with typical lead times of approximately 12 weeks. For more information, click here.
