Wide Input Range DC To DC Converter

4:1 input capability DC to DC converters enables operation from varied power sources in a compact through-hole package.

A new series of 10-watt DC/DC converters has been introduced in the standard DIP-24 board-mount package. The devices are designed to provide regulated power in systems where multiple input voltages may be present.

The REC10K-RW family supports wide 4:1 input ranges. Two versions are available: one covering 9–36V DC and the other covering 18–75V DC. These input windows allow the converters to operate from common supply rails at 12V, 24V and 48V. Output options include both single and dual regulated voltages, covering a range of standard system requirements.

Each converter can deliver its rated 10W output at ambient temperatures up to 60°C. With derating, where the power is reduced to manage thermal stress, operation is possible at temperatures up to 100°C. Functional features include an output trim pin, allowing small voltage adjustments, and remote ON/OFF control for integration into wider system power management.

Electrical isolation between input and output is specified at 4kV DC for one minute. This is defined as functional isolation, separating different parts of a system to reduce the risk of electrical faults. The series meets international safety standards IEC, EN, UL and CSA 62368-1, which apply to industrial and information technology equipment.

Built-in protection is included for input under-voltage, output over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit conditions, and over-temperature. These measures are intended to maintain safe operation under abnormal load or environmental conditions.

The modules use the industry-standard DIP-24 through-hole footprint, making them compatible with existing circuit board layouts. The converters are supplied with a three-year warranty and are available for order through authorised distribution channels.
