Beyond peak speeds, WiFi 8 improves stability, coverage and responsiveness where smart devices and AI services compete for bandwidth.
As homes and workplaces become increasingly dependent on always connected devices, network reliability and latency have emerged as critical challenges. Traditional performance metrics focused on peak speeds are no longer sufficient as AI driven applications, smart homes and dense device environments demand stable, low latency connectivity across every corner of the network.
To meet these challenges, ASUS unveiled the ROG NeoCore, a WiFi 8 concept router, alongside what it describes as the first real world WiFi 8 throughput test. The demonstration signals a transition of WiFi 8 from theoretical standards to practical application, highlighting how next generation wireless technology is designed to improve everyday connectivity rather than simply increase headline speeds. The platform is positioned for intelligent device ecosystems that require coordinated, reliable communication across multiple access points and clients.
The WiFi 8 architecture focuses on improving stability, spectrum efficiency and responsiveness in challenging environments such as multi story homes and densely populated residential areas. Intelligent spectrum coordination helps reduce interference from neighboring networks, while enhanced scheduling improves bandwidth utilization and reduces congestion. The technology also strengthens two way communication for low power IoT devices, supporting consistent connections for smart home and automation use cases.
Key features of the architecture include:
- Up to two times higher mid range throughput compared to WiFi 7
- Up to two times wider IoT coverage
- Up to six times lower P99 latency through smarter multi AP coordination
- Improved reliability in congested and long range scenarios
- Designed for AI driven device ecosystems
Tenlong Deng, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Wireless and Networking, says, ” WiFi 8 is not just about chasing peak speed, it’s about making every connection smarter and more reliable. It enables seamless collaboration between smart homes, AI assistants, and cloud services, delivering stable performance anytime, anywhere.”
