The SPD IC enhances DDR5 memory with faster processing, data handling, device communication, and JEDEC compliance for data processing.
ABLIC has launched the S-34HTS08AB SPD IC for DDR5 memory modules. The rising volumes of data processed by client PCs and data centre servers necessitate advanced memory modules, prompting a transition from DDR4 to DDR5. DDR5 not only improves processing speeds but also handles large data volumes.
The IC introduces a HUB function to facilitate device communication, supports high-speed I3C communication—a progression from the traditional I2C standard—and maintains the EEPROM and temperature sensor functionalities found in DDR4. The SPD IC complies with the latest JEDEC SPD5118 specification for DDR5, enhancing communication from 1MHz to 12.5MHz and ensuring efficient control across DIMM board devices. These capabilities advance data processing for both client and server applications. Furthermore, the company has leveraged its technology to design input-output circuits that ensure communication and compatibility with various peripheral devices.
The SPD IC enhances DDR5 memory modules for client and server applications. It features an SPD HUB that supports both 3.3V/1MHz I2C and 1.0V/12.5MHz I3C communications, complying with the JEDEC standards and making it adaptable for a range of DDR5 DIMMs. Additionally, it builds on the EEPROM and temperature sensing features of DDR4, incorporating a HUB function for DDR5 to facilitate communication between external controllers and DIMM board devices.
Designed for compatibility, the IC ensures stable communications and has been tested with peripheral devices from various manufacturers, enhancing design flexibility. The IC includes circuits that control input and output communication waveforms, which increase communication speed and reliability. It also provides measures to reduce communication noise and stabilise output waveforms, ensuring the efficient operation of memory modules.
