Amphenol RF has added new FAKRA-to-AMC cable assemblies to its pre-configured interconnect lineup, expanding options for engineers building automotive, industrial, and outdoor RF systems. The new assemblies combine a sealed, IP67-rated FAKRA bulkhead plug with a compact right-angle AMC plug on flexible RG-178 cable, giving designers a solution that balances environmental sealing, routing flexibility, and signal performance.

The assemblies are aimed primarily at automotive applications including advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), telematics, and infotainment, where compact routing paths and reliable RF connectivity are critical. Their sealed construction also makes them suitable for industrial automation and outdoor infrastructure deployments that require durable, weather-resistant interconnects.

A key design advantage is the use of RG-178 cable, which offers the flexibility needed to route through confined spaces and around tight bends without compromising signal integrity. On the installation side, the rear-mount FAKRA bulkhead connector is designed for straightforward integration into enclosures, control units, and vehicle panels, helping simplify assembly in space-constrained systems.

The connector construction is built for durability and performance. The FAKRA side uses nickel-plated zinc alloy with a gold-plated beryllium copper contact, while the AMC connector features gold-plated bronze with a gold-plated phosphor bronze contact. Together, the assembly supports RF performance up to 3 GHz and is offered in standard lengths from 50 mm to 300 mm.

For automotive engineers, system integrators, and equipment manufacturers, the new configuration broadens design flexibility by offering another sealed FAKRA-to-AMC option alongside Amphenol RF’s existing IP67-rated micro-coaxial variants. The addition gives designers more ways to streamline RF integration, preserve signal quality, and build reliable connections in demanding environments.
