Key Responsibilities
Designing and implementing Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens for but not limited to, power management systems, Process controls based on IEC 61850 standards for Next Generation Control Systems
- Understanding Customer Requirements and produce Functional and design and test specification documents.
- Design, develop and test the interfaces required between the SCADA and data concentrator systems.
- Develop generic libraries using SCADA based development environment to be used by external applications.
- Assist with the design, development and testing of external applications built on top of the SCADA libraries.
- Support ongoing project with strict timelines as per company’s OTR process.
- Actively engage with project teams to provide solutions for the project that technically fit the purpose.
- Identify technical risks and put in place the mitigation plan for the same.
- Identify and propose improvements in processes, tools, system solutions and technologies, rolling out improvements when agreed with the leadership team.
- Work collaboratively within well-established teams of Engineers / Developers on a mixture of existing and new projects
Work Experience
- Master’s/bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation engineering
- Knowledge in HMI design
- SCADA development experience using commercial SCADA packages (ideally Codra Panorama, Copa Data-Zenon).
- Demonstrated experience working with industrial network communication protocols such as OPCUA/DA, IEC 61850, DNP3, IEC60870-5-104, Modbus, TCP/IP, Profibus,
- System design – HMI server client configuration, Redundant server configuration.
- Basic understanding of Bay Controllers/Merging Units/ IEC61850 IED’s
- Basic understanding of Control Panel design (preferably as used in substation/power plant environments)
- Can validate AC Substation Single line diagrams & Protection Single line diagrams.
- Knowledge on HVDC transmission systems and the different controls involved in the system.
- Experienced in validating communication interfaces and its HMI mimics, based on the engineered SCADA configurations.
- Knowledge of electrical power system protection concepts
- Historian Knowledge, Configuring & knowledge of Alarm Management (Historical, SMS, Email, Voice).
- Expertise on software tools like IED Scout/Station Scout or DTM, protocol simulator for testing and simulation of HMI applications
- Report Generation Knowledge (Shift/Batch/Day) with Backend SQL & MS Access.
