Low-power Thermostat with 0.1 °C Accuracy:
Here is a power saving thermostat reference design with a high accuracy of 0.1 °C. The design has provision for driving small and large LCD panels using the same hardware to show the temperature, date, and time. A 2 x 28 (low-end) and 8 x 24 (high-end) LCD display allow different power consumptions. The high-end LCD display includes HVAC (Heating, Venting and Air conditioning) LED indicators and contrast control features as well. The design is built around a microcontroller MC9S08LL16 ideal for low-power LCD applications. Power consumption of as low as 1.5 µA is possible with a low power blinking mode in which an LCD blinks with a one second blink period without waking the controller. Battery-powered Thermostat with Remote Control:
This is a battery-powered thermostat with remote control via a GUI. The design performs highly accurate temperature measurements by utilizing an ultra-low-power MSP430FR4133 FRAM-based MCU. The MCU features 1.8uA standby current to extend battery life. A large 3.4 inch LCD display shows temperature from 0°C ~ 35°C temperature with 0.1°C resolution. Thermostat with Touch and Wireless Connectivity:
The reference design is a low-power thermostat with touch control and wireless connectivity. The design is battery-powered (with 2 AA batteries) with a 115 segment LCD display with backlit. The design has temperature, humidity and ambient sensors for measurements using a Atmel ATSAM4LC microcontroller. Six capacitive touch buttons, a buzzer and a USB port for firmware updating are also provided. An additional JTAG port allows for programming and debugging. A 2.4GHz RF transceiver from Atmel (AT86RF233) is provided for wireless connectivity.
