How do we spark true electronics innovation? Can celebrating R&D and New Product Development (NPD) teams jumpstart the ecosystem? The inaugural EFY Innovators’ Awards set out to answer exactly that. Most awards celebrate executives, leaving R&D and NPD labs unnoticed. Yet, these innovators hold the power to transform India from a tech consumer into a global creator. We cannot grant tax breaks. Instead, we are shining a spotlight on the visionaries tackling complex hardware challenges at the ground level. Launched to honour breakthrough innovations, the debut gala took centre stage at India Electronics Week 2026 at KTPO, Whitefield, Bengaluru. Presented below are the highlights, heroes, and winning moments from the ceremony.

“As many of you who have lived in Bengaluru, in India, and across the country know, Electronics For You (EFY) laid the foundation for the electronics industry in India. It all started in the 1960s. At that time, the only window to the world, especially in technology, was Electronics For You, which reached almost every corner of the country. Engineers like me waited every month for the magazine at newspaper stands.

India’s tech economy was not built on silicon alone; it was built on the foundation that EFY laid in the late 1960s. While textbooks gave theoretical knowledge, Electronics For You gave confidence, current information, and the ability to convert theory into working systems that people could build, see, demonstrate, and enjoy.
The knowledge-based economy India dreams of today has roots in efforts that began decades ago, and the electronics community continues to resonate with the journey EFY has taken. Along with institutions like IISc and IITs, EFY helped bring those dreams alive.
Through these awards, EFY is taking an important step by encouraging innovators to convert educational foundations into real products and innovations that can strengthen the economy.”
